Hi,

Just registered here hoping that someone will be able to clear something up.

I have a merchant service provider that will allow me to place the adwords tracking code on my confirmation of purchase page.

The problem is, will adwords for able to track, as the confirmation page which comes after the customer payment page is actually on the merchant services URL.

In other words from my site the customer is taken from

http://www.mywebsite.com/proceedtopayment

Then to

http://www.mymerchantservices.com/mywebsite/paymentpage

Then taken to

http://www.mymerchantservices.com/mywebsite/confirmationpage

So you can see the confirmation page where the conversion tracking code is taken will be on a different URL

So can Google track the conversion?

I am a day late. So what, life happens. This week’s topic is the infamous Google quality score, everyone bow to its greatness as this is what control how much you pay for your click and the frequency your ad is displayed. I don’t know about all of you, but the more I think about quality scores, the more my head hurts. Seriously, this is one of the true key success factors of your pay per click marketing campaign and how you can get the best ROI and conversion rates possible.

What does all of this mean? Well, let’s put in in layman’s terms. If you don’t have the right tools and support in place you aren’t going to get all of the results you want. Google quality score is a simple mathematical equation decided on by the following pieces of your pay per click campaign:

    * Landing Page Relevance
* Ad Copy
* Unique Content
* and Honoring your statements

What’s all this mean? Well essentially this means you have to do your research and stand up to your convictions.

Landing Page Relevance

This is pretty straightforward people. If you are going to advertise about a service, product or offering, then you better drive people to a page that is relevant to that topic.

Ad Copy

FREE… Sunday. Sunday.Sunday.. I don’t think so, the more unique you can get with your ad copy that is in line with your keywords for your campaign the better off you will be in your quality score.

Unique Content

Just because you say tomato and I say tooomato doesn’t mean you have unique content that Google has never seen before. If you are going to promote a product in PPC marketing be sure it is relevant and a unique way of promoting it.

It’s all about honor

If you say in your ad something is FREE or available now. You better deliver or your quality score will suffer and you will pay for your lack of honesty. Let’s think about what your mother always told you “liars and cheaters never win.” Be honest about what you are selling and stick to the basics!

So yes, at the end of the day Google quality score is a much talked about topic that many businesses ignore and pay dearly for it. Please, to be successful, don’t ignore the tools that are put in front of you. Google has put the quality score in their resources for a reason. Don’t bite the hand the feeds you and the pay per click leaders will get you the prize.

Read the full blog at http://www.upsurgemarketing.com/blog

I look forward to hearing your experiences, feedback and comments about this week's topic.

I created a program called Adwords Select. Ok so what does it do?

We all know how annoying it is that Adwords has a 50,000 keyword limit right.. and its annoying that you have to create 25 ad groups and fill them with 2000 keywords.

Now with Adwords Select you can enter any number of keywords (+ urls + bid per keyword, which isn't allowed anymore in the new interface but possible with Adwords Select because we work with the API), really any number, like 1,000,000 and next it will put the first 50,000 in your Adwords account divided by 25 groups.

Now what is more important than having a good click-through? Having useless keywords is just... useless. What Adwords Select does is checking every x amount of days which keywords work and which don't. Then it will remove the keywords that don't work and replaces them with other keywords in the 1,000,000 keyword list you entered.

How cool is that huh? Currently we are still in Beta but you can use the program. And we will send you free updates for a year. Next month we will be out of the Beta version and it will have even more options.

The price of this amazing piece of software is $100.

If you want to have the program send money to either my Paypal account which is johanstruijk82@yahoo.com or my MoneyBookers account which is info@discussbooks.org, next send me an email at johanstruijk82@yahoo.com and I will send the email.

Please note that Paypal has a 4 day period wherein you can ask your money back. Also I have a registered bussiness which you can look up at http://www.kvk.nl (dutch chambre of commerce) and search for the company Johan Michel, which is mine.

Interesting point, that.

Whenever I run a bulk update of keywords, bids, positions etc, I use the Adwords Editor.

This can be copied straight from an Excel spreadsheet, and allows you to see the updated changes before going live.

But it's a little unusual for Google to remove useful functionality, so I suspect that it will be changed soon...

My new campaign promotes a pnis enlargement program. The ads in my new campaign receive the approval status "approved (non-family)" this morning. At the same time, I also received an e-mail from AdWords Support informed me my ads are disapproved. if the status "approved (non-family)" means "disapproved", the product should not be allowed as part of the AdWrods program. However there are manay affiliate ads for this product. Does anyone know the way handling this hurdle? To me the only way is just cancel this campaign because Google is not happy with the product.

The AdWords Editor tool does not accept data in the format "Google AdWords Guide ** 0.75 ** http://www.AdwordsCampaign.net ** #2-3". The "Edit Keywords and Bids" textbox in the previous interface does, and saves a HUGE amount of time and effort. After I contacted Google about this, I heard from them today. They said that they’d suggest to the product team to include this functionality in the new "Add keywords" textbox, which is currently VERY basic. If and when it’ll happen, though, is anyone’s guess.

The tool I use (AdWords Campaign Manager) generates bulk upload data in all formats. You can do certain things in the old interface that you cannot do in AdWords Editor, and vice-versa. Being able to use both is just perfect. The old interface should therefore remain available always.

The new interface may be easier to navigate, but it is useless for bulk upload of many keywords with different "weighted" bids and URLs. The old interface is there and has great functionality of its own. Why not just leave it there? What’s the harm? Users should be given the choice.

The Google Conversion Tracking code should work for an entire account. The same code will work for all of your different Adgroups, and all of your different campaigns.

If you want to track them separately, you can set this up by creating a second conversion type.

Hi Claude,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you!

I've just written a blog post on this - it's not quite as straightforward a question as it sounds.

The only way to tell for certain is to use Google Analytics to see how much traffic you get from your brand name without bidding on Adwords, and then turn Adwords on, and see what happens to the total traffic on your brand name. It's the only way to estimate how much of the PPC traffic is additional, and how much is cannibalising your natural search results...

I would like to know if it worth it to use our brand name as a key word?
For example, for the moment the campaign that works the most (for us) is the one with our brand name and with our brand name key word.
But we pay for this link and if we type our own brand name in google, we will have 2 links:
- one we pay --> with an announce that go to a different page than our home page
- and one we do not pay --> that go to our home page

does it worth it to keep using these key word? or just the same key word with mistakes?

Hi,

I've seen the threads about this topic and also seen comparisons. But I still don't get why I should pay to use one of the commercial tools if all I want to do is to run an AdWords campaign.

Here are the things I've tried:-
1. Wordtracker -
Used their 7-day trial account to enter my root or core keywords and got some suggested keywords back. I then used the Competition search and got a report ranked by Impressions & KEI .
Problem is they're saying there were 45 searches (really small) with Broad match.
I ran a starter campaign for 2 days before and got many, many impressions (something like 1000). Admittedly, I had a high Max CPC. But Wordtracker does not correlate to CPC.

Also, 1000 actual impressions on AdWords vs. 45 searches in Wordtracker. Can someone help me reconcile the two vastly different numbers?

Also, WT divides no. of searches by the number of pages returned by the search engine.

I want to find keywords that are commercially convertable. I don't want educational keywords. I also want to know what the competition level is for the commercially convertable keywords.

I can't find a way to get WT to give that to me. Then I might as well continue to use the free Google keywords tool. Please tell me why I should use WT.

2. Keyword Discovery
- Same thing. How do I know which keywords are likely to lead to a sale?
- Also the the graphs seemed to indicate a flurry of activity around

Valentine's Day for the term "vegetarian protein". It goes up from 400 searches to about 3800 searches.
Is that a demo graph or an actual graph for vegetarian protein?
Is it 400 searches per month or what ? what unit?

Again, the numbers are way below Google's. Google's are like 24,000 and KD is 500. What gives?
